Midaero’s ambitious AS1900 competition is gaining increasing support. The AS9100 competition gives local businesses the opportunity to win a fully supported consultancy programme to prepare for AS9100 certification.

The AS9100 competition is further evidence of Midaero’s commitment to helping small businesses affordably access the profitable aerospace industry. Over the next 12 months, the Midaero team has committed to assist manufacturers to achieve the AS9100 certification. The focus of the project is reducing consultancy costs and showcasing manufacturing potential within UK plc.

Midaero CEO, Doug Allen said, “The aerospace industry already adds £79Bn to the UK economy. As the industry looks to innovate for green flight there is an opportunity for extensive growth. For that kind of growth we need to look for innovators, and what better place to look than our small businesses. Our small businesses are loaded with new ideas.

“If we encourage these businesses into the aerospace sector our OEMs and Primes can benefit and our SMEs can thrive. This will increase revenues in our proud UK manufacturing industry and create more opportunities for young engineers. That’s what this competition is about; opening the door to new possibilities for a wide range of people.”

Doug, recently met with Stuart Anderson MP to discuss the growth opportunities available to innovative local businesses in the aerospace industry. Aerospace offers a real chance for these businesses to level up, and work on stable, long-term, and highly lucrative contracts. Midaero are committed to helping such businesses enter the sector and take advantages related to increased demand for commercial aircraft, and new opportunities in greener flight.

Mr Anderson Said, ”It was fantastic to meet the team at Midaero – and learn about their incredible work supporting local businesses to enter our world-leading aerospace sector. Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy in Wolverhampton, and I am proud to be an MP for a city which has so many innovative, forward-thinking enterprises.

“The UK has been at the forefront of aviation for more than a hundred years, and I want to see Wolverhampton’s strong links with the aerospace sector go from strength to strength in the years ahead. Our aerospace companies work to the highest standards, through AS9100 certification. I welcome Midaero’s work to level up opportunities for businesses to obtain this certification and I would encourage all businesses to apply.”
